Criss Angel is an American magician with an estimated net worth of $50 million. Born on December 19, 1967 in Hempstead, New York, he was born with the name Christopher Nicholas Sarantakos. His family is Greek. His father, John, owned a bakery and a restaurant throughout Criss Angel’s childhood. When he was growing up, he took an interested in magic. He began learning as much as possible about Houdini when he was only a child, and by the time he was 7 he was completely enamored with the subject. At the age of 12, he had his first ever magic show and was paid $10. Within two years, he was performing for schools and in restaurants in New York. He showed great skill and talent for magic, and he began his real career at that point in time.
It didn’t take him long to realize that his parent’s dream of sending their son to college was not going to work for Criss Angel. They recognized the fact that he was so into magic that he was not going to attend college, and they were less than pleased with his decision to forgo a higher education. However, he was adamant that he was not attending any classes for higher education; he was going to become a magician. He went on tour with other local magicians, and he began working professionally. His early life was a bit on the dreary side. He was unable to get much work because he did not like to spend time with other magicians. He wanted to do things on his own, and it hindered him for a bit. He was able to secure a spot on an ABC magic special in 1994, and it might have been what changed his path.
By 1997, he was starring in his own television show. Criss Angel was becoming famous. However, it wasn’t the number of television shows on which he was featured that really made him the wealthy performer he is today. Instead, it was the fact that he was able to do things that no one else could do. In 2002, he made it his business to head into a water tank for 12 hours in the middle of Times Square. It was the first of his special tricks, and it was successful. He began doing things like this quite regularly, and that’s when he was given the deal of a lifetime.
Numerous television shows, specials and appearances later, he was given the chance to perform in Las Vegas in a show called Criss Angel Believe, which became the most famous magic show in the history of magic. He makes millions of dollars each year with the show, and he is one of the biggest attractions in Las Vegas history. He’s been married once, dated a few celebrities here and there, and he has been engaged since 2011. He has no children, and he is very active in the world of philanthropy, always giving back and making sure people are cared for.
