After plenty of anticipation — and not an insignificant dose of drama — the trailer for Love, Victor, the TV show sequel to the Love, Simon movie, is finally here.

In it, we meet Victor (Michael Cimino), who has just transferred to Creekwood High School after his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, from Texas. He’s immediately thrown into the school’s social pool: “I was excited to start over,” he says in a voice-over letter to Simon, who has been turned into a sage pen-pal of sorts. “I thought I’d finally get the chance to be myself… or, at least figure out who that even is.”

But when potential new friends start grilling him, Victor feels immediately put on the spot, and constrained by heterosexual assumptions. “Is there a girl back home?” one classmate asks — right when Benji (George Sear) walks down the hallway in that slow-motion, this-is-the-love-interest way that trailers love. “Nope, no girl back in Texas,” Victor tries.

The trailer also features cameos from some of your faves as Tommy Dorfman, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Sophia Bush all make appearances in the clip. (Nick Robinson, who brought Simon to the big screen from Becky Albertalli’s book, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, will narrate the series.)

We also learn there’s more to the show than the 2018 film touched on: Victor’s story is ready to talk about everything from navigating your sexuality to dealing with parents who may be less supportive of your coming out than you deserve. In another voiceover letter, Victor tells Simon, “You’re very lucky for having the world’s most perfect, accepting parents and supportive friends. For some of us, it’s not that easy.” Even so, Victor is hopeful: “Sixteen will be the year I finally figure out what I want,” he promises.

Even if it isn’t, at least we’ll have the show to follow along as he tries. All 10 episodes of Love, Victor drop on Hulu on June 19.
