The Famous Cast of 'Cars 3': Meet the Voice Actors

In the new film, directed by Brian Fee, the legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is back in the racing game but blindsided by a new generation of high-tech racers. The old car crew reunites to get McQueen back in fighting shape.

    Jackson Storm, the film's new antagonist, is a high-tech car that believes he is the future of racing. Armie Hammer voices Storm in his first Cars movie. He’s known for his roles in films such as Nocturnal Animals (2016), The Social Network (2010) and J.Edgar (2011).

    "Jackson Storm knows how to get under Lightning McQueen's paint, if you will," Hammer said, referring to his character, in an interview with Flicks and the City Clips. "He basically goes right for the age button and pushes it until McQueen self implodes." 

  • Nathan Fillion

    Sterling, voiced by Nathan Fillion, is a brilliant business owner who runs a training center. He’s charming when it comes to making a deal. This is the actor’s first Cars movie.

    "He knows what the trends are an he knows how to succeed," Fillion has said about his character. "He wants to bring Lightening into that success and be a part of that."

  • Bonnie Hunt

    Sally is a little blue car that also happens to be Lightning McQueen’s girlfriend. Bonnie Hunt voices Sally in each of the Cars movies. This is her fifth voice for a Pixar movie including performances in Toy Story 3 and Monsters University. 

  • Chris Cooper

    Chris Cooper takes the voice of Smokey, an old pickup truck who runs Smoke's Automotive Service. This is his first Cars movie. He’s known for his roles in Adaptation (2002) and The Patriot (2000).

  • Tony Shalhoub

    Tony Shalhoub is again the voice of Luigi, a character he also voiced in Cars and Cars 2. The yellow car runs the local tire shop in Radiator Springs.

    By her appearance, Miss Fritter is an intimidating school bus. She has a razor-sharp stop sign, chipped teeth, an X on the tires and a collection of her victims’ license plates. Lea DeLaria voices Miss Fritter for her Cars debut.

    Natalie Certain is a highly respected mathematician that knows her statistics. Kerry Washington voices Natalie Certain in her first Cars movie. She best known for her role as Olivia Pope in Scandal. 

  • Margo Martindale

    Louise “Barnstormer” Nash is based on a real-life racer who was nicknamed the “First Lady of Racing." Margo Martindale voices Louise Nash in her first Cars film. She is known for her roles in The Americans and Justified, winning Emmys for her roles in both.

  • Bob Costas

    This well-known sports announcer has covered every type of racer event. Bob Costas, a TV sportscaster in real-life, voices the similarly named Bob Cutlass. 

  • Darrell Waltrip

    Darrel Cartrip is a sports announcer that sits alongside Bob Cutlass for sports commentary. Darrell Waltrip is the voice of Darrell Cartrip in Cars, Cars 2 and Cars 3.

  • Ray and Tom Magliozzi

    Ray and Tom Magliozzi (Dusty and Rusty in Cars 3) are brothers who co-host of NPR's weekly radio show Car Talk, where they were known as "Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers."
